Early Kestner China head doll with Flattop hairstyle

Early Kestner China head doll with Flattop hairstyle, circa 1860's-1870’s. This is a 24 inch lady with a high, wide forehead. Her 6 inch high porcelain head is in excellent condition with no hairlines or crack or chips, but there is a small scrape to left cheek, and a small pit from firing on the side of her forehead, and also just below her nose, neither detracts. She is missing fingertips on her right hand. There is only one small rub to the back of her head, and the reflections are making that impossible to see. This is her original body, and what a body it is ! the shape is like a fabulous sculpture of a human with a bosom pad added. Arms and legs have patches, but are in fine condition otherwise. Her undergarments, made for her, are very pretty and her dress is antique. Her wonderful shoes appear to have been repainted: first, please note the daintiness of her feet in comparison to her shins! then, upon examining and lighting the feet, I see no repairs, but the hint of a turquoise glaze underneath what seems to be paint. I am guessing the glaze was wearing off. I would have preferred worn glaze to paint, but the decision was already made. I personally think this lady is wonderful in simply her undergarments, but that is just me.....she has a great face, too. ITEM ID 679
